About The Company

AI Australia works in business intelligence, analytics, and technology solutions. The team helps clients make informed decisions by delivering data services, reporting capabilities, and practical technical solutions. You will work with colleagues and stakeholders to understand business needs and develop reliable, useful outcomes. The practice values collaboration, initiative, professional communication, and a willingness to learn as technologies and client requirements evolve.

About The Role

As a Business Intelligence Developer, you will design, develop, test, and support data and reporting solutions across the Microsoft BI ecosystem. You will work with relational and other data sources, build and maintain data pipelines and warehouse structures, and create insights using Microsoft Power BI. The role also involves gathering and documenting requirements, preparing technical and functional specifications, and collaborating with business analysts, developers, clients, and other stakeholders. Candidates must be willing to live in or travel to Southern Region NSW or Canberra. Visa support may be available for a suitable candidate.

Qualifications

You bring at least eight years of experience working with SQL Server relational databases and structured and unstructured data, as well as at least seven years of consulting experience. You have strong hands-on expertise across the Microsoft BI stack, including Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS Tabular, DAX, and Power BI. Your background includes data cleansing and migration involving large datasets, data warehouse design, dimensional modelling using the Kimball methodology, data mining, and ETL development.

You understand database management systems and OLAP, and have experience designing process maps, data flows, and technical solutions. Familiarity with Azure and Microsoft 365 services—including Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange, and Power Automate is important. Hands-on SharePoint Online experience, JavaScript, PowerShell scripting, and an understanding of C# are also required. Knowledge of CRM software and predictive modelling or machine-learning algorithms is an advantage. You are comfortable working with Scrum and have experience managing IT projects.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain BI solutions, reports, dashboards, data models, and ETL processes. Use Power BI and related tools to generate clear, actionable insights from business data. Profile, cleanse, migrate, and validate large datasets, while testing, debugging, and resolving issues across applications and reporting solutions. Design data warehouse components and dimensional models that support accurate, consistent analysis.

Work with business analysts to translate interview findings and stakeholder needs into user stories, acceptance criteria, and simple wireframes. Document business requirements for BI and application solutions, create technical documentation, and prepare functional specifications for BI and systems developers. Contribute to project delivery, process improvement, and automation, including scripting where appropriate. Communicate clearly with stakeholders, take initiative in solving problems, and adapt to new technologies and changing priorities.

Benefits

This full-time role offers the opportunity to contribute to varied BI and analytics work while developing your expertise across modern data and cloud technologies. The advertised base pay range is A$70,000 to A$120,000 per year. Actual compensation will be determined according to your skills and experience.
