Job summary

Bluhat Consulting is seeking a Poultry Farm Manager for an 8-shed broiler site near Tamworth, NSW. You will own site performance from placement to pick-up and lead a small team including an Assistant Manager.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will live on site, manage day-to-day operations, and coordinate with processor field staff. Visa sponsorship may be considered for the right candidate.

Our client is a contract grower for one of Australia’s major poultry processors, running 32 sheds across their operation. They’re looking for a Poultry Farm Manager to take the reins of an 8-shed broiler site just outside Tamworth, in the heart of the New England North West.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this is a management role, not a solo one. You’ll run the site in both a hands‑on capacity and through a team, which includes an Assistant Manager who can hold the fort when you’re not there. Because this farm site sits within a larger group, you’re running your own show without ever running it alone.

The role

You’ll own the performance of the site from placement to pick-up, and you’ll lead the crew who deliver it. This will include:

• Leading, rostering and developing the team;
• Day‑to‑day management of bird health, welfare, feed, water and shed environment;
• Driving the numbers that matter to achieve maximum efficiency, bird health and growth targets;
• Managing ventilation and climate control across all growth stages;
• Shed prep, clean‑out and turnaround, done properly and done on time;
• Foster and manage best practice in biosecurity, welfare compliance and WHS;
• Coordinate maintenance on all ventilation, feed lines, drinkers, generators, the lot;
• Working alongside the processor’s field officers and vets when required;
  
• Keep accurate records and provide clear reporting to the Operations Manager.

About you

• Hands‑on broiler experience with farm management experience, or a strong 2IC ready to step up and run their own site;
• You can lead. You’ve supervised a crew, you delegate properly, and people stay in your teams;
• You understand ventilation and can read a shed by feel as well as by screen;
• Calm under pressure;
• Solid record‑keeping and comfort with farm management software;
• Current driver’s licence;
• Willing to live on site and take part in an after‑hours/on‑call roster.
