Job summary

Bayside Health is seeking a Lived Experience Worker to provide peer support within the Alfred Mental & Addiction Health team, based at The Alfred’s Adult Inpatient Unit. The role involves non-crisis support for consumers during inpatient stay and up to 28 days after discharge, under supervision.

Applicants should have lived experience of mental health challenges, recovery-focused approach, and be willing to complete policing checks. Flexible rostering may include weekends.

Qualifications

• Identified lived/living experience of mental health challenges.
• Demonstrated understanding of consumer peer work and recovery-oriented practice.
• Australian working rights and current influenza vaccination
• Be willing to complete a police check
• Demonstrated experience working in a peer work role (typically 12 months or more).
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously within peer scope of practice.
• Intentional Peer Support Training.

Responsibilities

• Using your lived experience of mental distress and recovery, provide peer support and non-crisis interventions to consumers in the Adult Inpatient Unit and post discharge for up to 28 days following discharge.
• You will be supported with line management and peer supervision in this role.
