Job summary

OnDeck Australia is looking for a commercially minded Portfolio Forecasting Analyst to shape the future of our lending portfolio. You'll transform complex data into practical recommendations in collaboration with Risk, Finance, Operations and Product teams.

Build driver-based forecasts, enhance expected loss methodologies, and identify risks and opportunities to drive sustainable growth. The role requires curiosity, stakeholder engagement, and a hands-on approach in a hybrid Sydney setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Economics, Actuarial Studies, Finance, Business, Mathematics, Statistics or related discipline.
• 3+ years' experience in a commercially focused analytical role (lending, strategy, consulting, corporate development).
• Strong analytical and problem solving capability.
• Strong Excel and SQL skills.
• Experience with at least one analytical language or platform such as R, SAS or SPSS.
• High attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Confidence working with C-Suite executives and stakeholders.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.
• Intellectual curiosity and a genuine desire to understand what drives the numbers.

Responsibilities

• Build driver-based portfolio forecasts and establish a forecasting capability.
• Analyze how changes in policy, pricing, marketing, channel mix, and customer behavior affect portfolio performance.
• Develop expected loss forecasting and provisioning in line with IFRS 9/AASB 9.
• Identify emerging portfolio risks, trends and commercial opportunities.
• Develop and implement credit strategy optimisations for growth and profitability.
• Conduct scenario and sensitivity analysis to support strategic planning and decisions.
• Analyze opportunities across credit strategy, pricing, fraud, collections and funnel.
• Assess existing credit policies and suggest improvements.
• Turn complex analysis into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders.

We’re looking for a commercially minded Portfolio Forecasting Analyst to join our team and play a key role in shaping the future of our lending portfolio.

This is an opportunity for an analytical thinker who wants to do more than report on what has already happened. You’ll use forecasting, predictive analytics and commercial insight to understand what could happen next, and help us decide what to do about it.

What you'll be doing

Working closely with our Risk, Finance, Operations and Product teams, you’ll turn complex data into practical recommendations that influence business strategy.

You'll:

• Build driver based portfolio forecasts and help establish a new forecasting capability within OnDeck
• Analyse how changes in credit policy, pricing, marketing, channel mix, fraud controls and customer behaviour could impact portfolio performance
• Develop and enhance expected loss forecasting and provisioning methodologies in line with AASB 9 / IFRS 9
• Identify emerging portfolio risks, trends and commercial opportunities
• Develop and implement credit strategy optimisations that drive sustainable growth and profitability
• Conduct scenario and sensitivity analysis to support strategic planning and executive decision making
• Analyse opportunities across credit strategy, pricing, fraud, collections and the customer funnel
• Assess existing credit policies and recommend improvements
• Turn complex analysis into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders and executives

What we're looking for

You’ll be naturally curious, commercially minded and comfortable getting into the detail while still seeing the bigger picture.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• A Bachelor's degree in Economics, Actuarial Studies, Finance, Business, Mathematics, Statistics or a related discipline
• 3+ years' experience in a commercially focused analytical role, such as lending, management consulting, strategy or corporate development
• Strong analytical and problem solving capability
• Strong Excel and SQL skills
• Experience with at least one analytical language or platform such as R, SAS or SPSS
• A high level of attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
• Confidence working with stakeholders across different areas of a business, including C-Suite executives
• The ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
• Most importantly, intellectual curiosity and a genuine desire to understand what is driving the numbers
