Job summary

NSW Health is seeking a Policy Officer within the Aboriginal Maternal, Child, Youth & Family Health program to support policy development and program delivery at the Healthy Families and Communities Branch in NSW. The role focuses on Aboriginal health and families, working with health service providers and government agencies.

The position is temporary part-time (0.6 FTE) with a Crown Clerk grade 7/8 classification, offering pro-rata remuneration and superannuation.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and demonstrated experience in maternity, child and family health, paediatrics, youth health.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing advice in a multi-disciplinary or multi-agency environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders to deliver on policy and program areas.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and evaluation of policies, projects and programs for the Ministry of Health and related agencies to address policy issues.
  • Assist with the implementation of Closing the Gap Outcome 2 and Outcome 4 for children.

What you’ll be doing

This role will be responsible for supporting the development and evaluation of policies, projects and programs for the Ministry of Health and related agencies to address current and emerging policy issues including supporting the implementation of the Closing the Gap Outcome 2 - children are born healthy and strong and Outcome 4 - children thrive in their early years.

The position will work closely with health service providers, other government agencies, and key stakeholders, with the support of the Principal Policy Officer.

About you
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: maternity, child and family health, paediatrics, youth health.
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of advice in a multi-disciplinary or multi-agency environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders to deliver on policy and program/project areas.
