Job summary

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists is seeking a Policy Officer (0.6 FTE) to join the Policy, Advocacy and Standards Unit in Sydney. This part-time role offers flexibility, with three to five days per week across three, four or five days, and involves researching complex policy issues and preparing briefs for senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification and/or relevant work experience in policy development, strategy or related fields.
• Experience in healthcare and/or professional associations is desirable.
• Experience researching and synthesising information from diverse sources to support decision-making and policy positions.
• Excellent written communication skills, including drafting policy documents, briefing papers and reports for senior stakeholders.
• Experience engaging with internal and external stakeholders and managing competing perspectives.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking to interpret complex information and identify issues, implications and opportunities.
• Ability to work effectively in uncertainty and support policy positions with incomplete information or diverse perspectives.

Responsibilities

We're looking for a Policy Officer (0.6 FTE) to join our Policy, Advocacy and Standards Unit. Offering genuine flexibility, this part-time role can be worked across three, four or five days per week, making it an excellent opportunity for someone seeking meaningful work alongside other commitments.

Working with leading clinicians, you'll explore emerging trends, technologies and challenges that could shape the future of healthcare. Through research, analysis and collaboration with clinical experts, you'll consider the opportunities, risks and potential implications for the future practice of radiology and radiation oncology across Australia and New Zealand.

This is a role for someone who enjoys variety and can confidently adapt as priorities evolve. You'll research complex issues, draw insights from a range of sources, engage with clinical experts and stakeholders, and bring together diverse perspectives to support informed decision making. One day might involve exploring the implications of an emerging clinical or regulatory trend, while the next could see you preparing a briefing for senior stakeholders, contributing to a consultation or supporting committees and working groups.

We're looking for a curious and agile thinker who is comfortable navigating uncertainty, responding to emerging issues, and pivoting between priorities when needed. You'll enjoy learning, asking questions, and working collaboratively with subject matter experts to understand what emerging developments could mean in practice.

What You’ll Do

• Research, analyse and draft content on a range of issues, obtaining input from clinical leads.

• Prepare reports, discussion papers and briefing materials for committees, management, and other stakeholders.
• Provide policy and strategic advice on a range of emerging issues impacting healthcare, and medical practice.
• Provide secretariat support to committees including preparation of agendas, minutes, and action tracking.
• Participate in committee or stakeholder meetings and conferences.
• Undertake environmental scanning and monitor emerging evidence, technologies, policy developments, and trends relevant to priority areas.

What You’ll Bring
