Job summary

Downer invites applications to join our permanent workforce at RAAF Richmond as a Plumber. This role supports Defence capabilities and delivers essential plumbing maintenance for base facilities and estates across the site.

You will bring a Certificate III in Plumbing, NSW plumbing licence, backflow prevention certification, and a commitment to safety. A strong work ethic and teamwork are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Formal plumbing qualification and NSW licence required.
• Backflow prevention and gas work licences are desirable.
• Experience maintaining plumbing systems in facilities or defence environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform general plumbing maintenance and minor upgrade works.
• Maintain and repair water supply, sewerage, drainage and other systems.
• Undertake backflow prevention testing where certified.
• Respond promptly to service requests and urgent repairs.

What You’ll Do

This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:

• Perform general plumbing maintenance and minor upgrade works in accordance with PAS service definitions
• Maintain and repair water supply, sewerage, drainage and other plumbing systems across the base
• Undertake backflow prevention and thermostatic mixing valve testing where certified
• Respond promptly to service requests and urgent repairs

What You’ll Bring

• Certificate III in Plumbing (or equivalent)
• NSW Plumbing Licence (NSW)
• Post-trade experience in plumbing maintenance, preferably in a facilities or Defence environment
• Demonstrated ability to perform plumbing system maintenance, drainage and water system management
• Backflow Prevention Certification and Gas Work Licence (Type A) (desirable)
• Current Open Driver’s Licence.
• Ability to obtain and retain Defence Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required)
