Job summary

Downer invites applications for a permanent Plumber role at Holsworthy Barracks. In this position you will perform general plumbing maintenance, upgrade works, and maintain water supply, sewerage, drainage across the base for PAS services.

Ideal candidates hold a Certificate III in Plumbing with NSW Plumbing Licence, plus post-trade maintenance experience. Desirable certifications include Backflow Prevention and Gas Work Licence (Type A).

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Plumbing is required or equivalent.
• NSW Plumbing Licence for NSW is required.
• Post-trade experience in plumbing maintenance is preferred.
• Ability to obtain Defence Security Clearance is required.
• Backflow Certification and Gas Work Licence (Type A) are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform general plumbing maintenance and minor upgrade works per PAS definitions.
• Maintain and repair water supply, sewerage, drainage across the base.
• Undertake backflow prevention and thermostatic mixing valve testing where certified.
• Respond promptly to service requests and urgent repairs.

Downer has been awarded the Property and Asset Services (PAS) contract to deliver base and estate services across their two largest regions NSW/ACT and QLD. This is a significant milestone for our business and our enduring 80+ year relationship with the Australian Defence Force.

What You'll Do

This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:

• Perform general plumbing maintenance and minor upgrade works in accordance with PAS service definitions
• Maintain and repair water supply, sewerage, drainage and other plumbing systems across the base
• Undertake backflow prevention and thermostatic mixing valve testing where certified
• Respond promptly to service requests and urgent repairs

What You'll Bring

• Certificate III in Plumbing (or equivalent)
• NSW Plumbing Licence (NSW)
• Post-trade experience in plumbing maintenance, preferably in a facilities or Defence environment
• Demonstrated ability to perform plumbing system maintenance, drainage and water system management
• Backflow Prevention Certification and Gas Work Licence (Type A) (desirable)
• Current Open Driver's Licence.
• Ability to obtain and retain Defence Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required)
