Job summary

Platypus Shoes Craigieburn is seeking an Assistant Manager to work alongside the Store Manager, supporting a passionate casual team. Your focus will be on driving sales, coaching colleagues, and delivering elevated customer service in a fast-paced retail environment.

You’ll help create an energetic store culture, manage rosters and wage spend, monitor performance, and ensure visual standards while upholding OH&S policies and compliance.

Qualifications

• Senior casual, key holder, 3IC, or supervisor experience in high-volume retail.
• Proven ability to lead a team and drive sales and KPIs.
• Hands-on leadership with a proactive “Make it Happen” mindset.

Responsibilities

• Support Store Manager to drive performance and hit sales targets and KPI.
• Motivate and inspire the team to deliver exceptional customer experience.
• Monitor sales and identify opportunities for growth weekly and monthly.
• Manage rosters and wage spend aligned with targets and efficiency.
• Coach and mentor team members to maintain high morale and training.
• Oversee stock levels, store presentation, and shrinkage control.
• Ensure OH&S compliance and adherence to state/national legislation.

About the Role

As the Assistant Manager at Platypus Shoes Craigieburn, you'll work side-by-side with the Store Manager to support a team of passionate casual team members. Your focus will be on driving sales and KPIs, coaching the team, and delivering next-level customer service. You'll play a key role in creating an energetic store culture, while developing your leadership skills in a fast-paced, high-impact retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Store Manager in driving store performance by achieving sales targets, KPIs, and maintaining visual merchandising standards
• Motivate and inspire the team to deliver outstanding results in sales and customer experience
• Monitor and analyse store sales performance daily, weekly, and monthly – celebrate wins and identify opportunities for growth
• Manage rosters and wage spend in line with company targets and operational efficiency
• Coach and mentor team members, driving high morale, ongoing training, and succession planning
• Oversee stock levels, store presentation, shrinkage control, and operational excellence
• Ensure compliance with all OH&S policies and relevant state and national legislation

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience as a senior casual, key holder, 3IC, or supervisor in a high-volume retail environment
• Proven ability to lead a team and deliver strong results in sales and KPIs
• A proactive, hands-on leader with a 'Make it Happen' mindset
• Strong communication skills and a passion for coaching others
• Operational know-how across stock management and visual merchandising
• A genuine enthusiasm for customer experience and working with premium product
