Job summary

IMC is expanding its Platform Engineering team in Sydney to build and operate scalable, self-service systems for configuring, deploying, and running trading and supporting components. You will contribute to globally distributed Go applications and collaborate with global teams across local stakeholders.

The role emphasizes automated testing, CI/CD, and a DevOps mindset throughout the application lifecycle. Prior knowledge of financial markets is not required but curiosity is essential.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of professional software engineering experience and proficiency in a programming language is required (Go, Python, or Java).
• Strong analytical skills and interest in solving complex problems programmatically.
• Experience with automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and Linux environments.
• Exposure to distributed computing and modern cloud-native software design.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
• You have a DevOps mindset and are comfortable working across the entire application lifecycle, from development and testing to deployment and operations.
• Prior knowledge of financial markets or trading is not required, but curiosity and a willingness to learn are essential.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, deploy, and maintain high-performance, globally distributed Go applications.
• Collaborate with teammates, stakeholders, and internal customers across local and global teams.
• Partner with customers to understand their needs and design platform capabilities that help them configure, deploy, and operate software more effectively.
• Support customers, unblock teams, and turn recurring issues into platform improvements.
• Own the end-to-end service lifecycle, from requirements gathering and implementation to deployment, operation, and continuous improvement.
• Help operate and support the team's systems during Sydney business hours.
• Use automated testing and frequent deployments to deliver high-quality features quickly and iteratively.
• Balance trade-offs between latency, throughput, simplicity, scalability, reliability, and maintainability in a complex technology landscape.
