Job summary

Suncorp Group is seeking an experienced Cloud Platform Engineer to drive cloud platform engineering using AWS and Terraform. The role involves delivering scalable platform solutions, automating operations, and supporting strategic technology initiatives across Brisbane or Melbourne.

You will design, build, and enhance cloud platform capabilities, lead from design through production, and advance automation with Python/Ansible while collaborating in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a large corporate/enterprise environment.
• Strong AWS platform engineering experience across SaaS, PaaS, IaaS.
• Proven Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
• Experience building/maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automation (Python/Ansible).
• Hands-on container orchestration with Kubernetes/OpenShift/Docker.
• Linux admin knowledge, observability/monitoring for reliability.

About The Role

Join our Core Data Platforms team and contribute to the delivery of resilient, scalable cloud platforms that enable enterprise-wide innovation. Working in a collaborative environment, you'll engineer modern platform solutions, automate operational processes, and support strategic technology initiatives. What You'll Do

• Design, build and enhance cloud platform solutions that align with long-term architectural objectives while supporting reliable and scalable services across the enterprise.
• Lead the implementation of platform capabilities from design through to production, ensuring quality documentation and operational readiness.
• Identify and deliver automation opportunities that improve platform performance, availability, operational efficiency and cost outcomes.
• Build and maintain CI/CD capabilities that enable consistent, secure and efficient delivery of platform and application services.
• Partner with Tech Leads, Product Owners, Delivery Managers and other stakeholders to deliver strategic initiatives using Agile ways of working.
• Share knowledge with fellow engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, learning and innovation.

What You'll Bring

• At least 5 years' experience working within a large corporate or enterprise environment, ideally in a Platform Engineer or Systems Engineer capacity.
• Strong AWS platform engineering experience, including the delivery and support of cloud-based services across SaaS, PaaS and IaaS environments. AWS certifications are highly regarded.
• Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform to provision, manage and optimise cloud platforms at scale.
• Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines, combined with strong automation skills using Python and Ansible.
• Hands-on experience managing containerised environments using Kubernetes, OpenShift or Docker, including deployment and operational support practices.
• Strong Linux administration knowledge, preferably Red Hat environments, along with experience using observability and monitoring tools to improve platform reliability and performance.
• An interest in AI-assisted engineering tools and modern ways of working that enhance automation, code quality and operational efficiency.
