Job summary

Suncorp Group is seeking a seasoned Cloud Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate resilient cloud platforms using AWS and Terraform. You’ll lead automation, CI/CD pipelines, and platform capabilities from design to production, collaborating with Tech Leads, Product Owners, and Delivery Managers to deliver strategic initiatives.

You will work in a collaborative environment, shaping scalable solutions, and enhancing operational efficiency, reliability, and cost outcomes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a large corporate/enterprise environment, in Platform/Systems engineering.
• Strong AWS platform engineering experience across SaaS/PaaS/IaaS; AWS certs are highly regarded.
• Proven Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform to provision and optimize cloud platforms at scale.
• Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines with Python and Ansible.
• Hands-on container orchestration in Kubernetes/OpenShift/Docker with deployment and ops practices.
• Solid Linux administration knowledge, preferably Red Hat, with observability/monitoring tools.
• Interest in AI-assisted engineering tools and modern automation practices.

About The Role

Join our Core Data Platforms team and contribute to the delivery of resilient, scalable cloud platforms that enable enterprise-wide innovation. Working in a collaborative environment, you'll engineer modern platform solutions, automate operational processes, and support strategic technology initiatives. What You'll Do

• Design, build and enhance cloud platform solutions that align with long-term architectural objectives while supporting reliable and scalable services across the enterprise.
• Lead the implementation of platform capabilities from design through to production, ensuring quality documentation and operational readiness.
• Identify and deliver automation opportunities that improve platform performance, availability, operational efficiency and cost outcomes.
• Build and maintain CI/CD capabilities that enable consistent, secure and efficient delivery of platform and application services.
• Partner with Tech Leads, Product Owners, Delivery Managers and other stakeholders to deliver strategic initiatives using Agile ways of working.
• Share knowledge with fellow engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, learning and innovation.

What You'll Bring

• At least 5 years' experience working within a large corporate or enterprise environment, ideally in a Platform Engineer or Systems Engineer capacity.
• Strong AWS platform engineering experience, including the delivery and support of cloud-based services across SaaS, PaaS and IaaS environments. AWS certifications are highly regarded.
• Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform to provision, manage and optimise cloud platforms at scale.
• Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines, combined with strong automation skills using Python and Ansible.
• Hands-on experience managing containerised environments using Kubernetes, OpenShift or Docker, including deployment and operational support practices.
• Strong Linux administration knowledge, preferably Red Hat environments, along with experience using observability and monitoring tools to improve platform reliability and performance.
• An interest in AI-assisted engineering tools and modern ways of working that enhance automation, code quality and operational efficiency.
