Job summary

Synechron is seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to build, operate, and continually improve cloud-native platforms hosted on AWS in Melbourne. You will manage ECS environments, implement IaC, and drive reliability, scalability, and automation across enterprise platforms.

The role requires hands-on expertise in AWS, ECS, Terraform/CloudFormation, CI/CD, and monitoring tools, with a focus on high availability, security, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Platform/DevOps/SRE roles.
• Hands-on AWS experience with ECS, EC2, CloudWatch, Auto Scaling, IAM, and VPC.
• Strong container orchestration and Docker experience.
• Proficient with IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation).
• Scripting skills in Python, Bash, PowerShell.
• Experience building/maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Monitoring/observability with Grafana, Splunk, ELK Stack.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure AWS-based platform infrastructure.
• Manage and support containerized apps on ECS (EC2 or Fargate).
• Monitor platform health and respond to incidents with rapid resolution.
• Troubleshoot performance issues, latency, and failures; optimize resources.
• Develop and maintain IaC using Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and testing.
• Configure and maintain observability platforms for visibility.
• Perform RCAs and implement preventative measures to improve stability.
• Collaborate with teams to improve reliability and deployment practices.
• Apply cloud security, governance, and cost-optimization best practices.
• Drive automation to reduce manual work and increase efficiency.
