Job summary

Plascorp in Melbourne is seeking a skilled Plastics Technician to set up, operate, adjust and troubleshoot machinery used in the manufacture of PVC pipe and related plastic products, ensuring quality and efficiency.

The role requires five years’ machine operating experience, a Mechanical Trade Certificate (or equivalent), strong OH&S awareness, and the ability to work independently and troubleshoot production issues.

Qualifications

• Five years’ machine operating experience is required.
• Certificate III in Engineering or equivalent preferred.
• Understanding of OH&S requirements and safe manual handling.

Responsibilities

• Operate PVC extruders, granulation, and mixing plant.
• Load and handle raw materials.
• Meet daily production targets per the plan.
• Ensure products meet required standards.
• Tooling changes and setup on the line.
• Complete line changes, planning and set-up.
• Complete production reports.
• Machine changeovers and set-ups.
• Pre-start and safety checks on equipment.
• Operate overhead gantry crane and forklift.
• Follow OH&S procedures and policies.
• Conduct quality testing per Australian standards.

Job description

Plascorp, one of Australia’s leading privately-owned manufacturers and distributors of Industrial Ducting, Mine Ventilation, PVC Pipe and Steel Reinforcing solutions, is seeking a skilled Plastics Technician to join our team. In this role you will be responsible for setting up, operating, adjusting and troubleshooting machinery used in the manufacture of PVC pipe and related plastic products, ensuring high-quality standards and efficient production.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate machinery, including PVC extruders, granulation, and mixing plant.
• Load and handle raw materials.
• Meet daily production expectations and targets as per the production plan.
• Ensure that products meet required standards.
• Tooling changes and setup on the production line.
• Complete line changes, planning and set-up.
• Complete required production reports.
• Complete machine changeovers and set-ups.
• Conduct pre-start and necessary process and safety checks on equipment to ensure safety and quality standards are met.
• Operation of overhead gantry crane.
• Operation of a forklift.
• Follow required OH&S procedures and policies.
• Conduct quality testing in compliance to Australian standard and site requirements.
• Responsible for pipe packing on their production lines.

Skills and experience required:

• Minimum of five years’ machine operating experience, mechanical background preferred.
• Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade, Polymer Processing, or equivalent qualification strongly regarded.
• Understanding of OH&S requirements, correct manual handling methods and reporting.
• Sound literacy and numeracy skills.
• Ability to work independently and solve issues as they arise.
• Ability to multitask and perform different tasks.
