Job summary

Boral Quarries at Cedars Quarry near Mackay is seeking a Plant Operator to operate mobile and fixed plant safely across shifts. This permanent, full-time role involves ensuring the site keeps producing and operates with safety and quality in mind.

You will handle dump haul trucks, loaders, and crushers, perform basic maintenance, and participate in problem solving and safety routines. Mentoring from experienced operators is provided, with competitive hourly pay including overtime allowances.

Qualifications

• Experience operating mobile plant; familiarity with excavators (e.g., Komatsu 850) is a plus.
• HR truck licence is handy but not essential.
• Quarry experience is preferred but not required.
• Self-motivated with safety and quality at front of mind.
• Team player who can work with minimal supervision.
• Available to work Monday to Saturday.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Plant Operator to join our team at Cedars Quarry near Mackay. This is a permanent, full-time role operating the mobile and fixed plant that keeps the site producing and doing it safely every shift. If you enjoy hands-on work, take pride in looking after your gear and want to learn the quarry trade properly, we would like to hear from you.

Your day will involve:

• Operating our dump haul truck, front-end loader and other quarry mobile plant safely
• Operating the crushing plant safely
• Basic maintenance and keeping your plant and work area in good order
• Getting involved in problem solving and finding better ways to do the job
• Taking part in our safety routines, including pre-starts, toolbox talks and incident reporting

What are we looking for?

• Experience operating mobile plant (Excavator Komatsu 850 or similar is a plus, but we can teach you)
• An HR truck licence is handy, though not essential
• Quarry experience is well regarded, though not essential
• Self-motivated, with safety and quality front of mind
• Someone who works well in a team and can get on with the job with minimal supervision
• Available to work Monday to Saturday
