Job summary

Ballina Shire Council is seeking a road maintenance worker to operate a Side Arm Tractor for roadside slashing and support related construction tasks on the shire’s road network.

You will bring proven civil construction exposure, a White Card, and an MR licence, with enthusiasm for operating a range of plant equipment and contributing to safe, quality road maintenance.

Qualifications

• Behaviour demonstrates Council values: creative, accessible, respect, energetic and safe.
• Work Safely in the Construction Industry Induction ticket (white card) is required.
• MR Class driver licence with safe driving record.
• Demonstrated competence in operating a Side Arm Tractor in civil construction.
• Willingness to operate and obtain tickets for additional plant including Backhoe, Excavator, Roller, Patching Truck, Street Sweeper, Front End Loader and Side Arm.
• Experience in civil construction duties related to roads and roadsides.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Position

As a member of Council's road maintenance team, this position plays an important role in keeping our roadsides well maintained by safely and efficiently operating a side arm tractor to undertake roadside slashing across the Shire.

This position will also be responsible for providing relief operation of other plant and equipment and contributing to a range of operational activities associated with road construction and maintenance works.

To be successful you will bring

• Class MR driver licence with relevant operational experience and a good and safe driving record.
• Demonstrated high level competence in the operation of a Side Arm Tractor in a civil construction and maintenance working environment.
• Willingness to operate and obtain tickets in a variety of plant including Backhoe, Excavator, Roller, Patching Truck, Street Sweeper, Backhoe, Front End Loader, Excavator and Side Arm.
• Demonstrated understanding of and experience in civil construction duties associated with roads and roadsides.

• A salary range of $63,700 to $73,100 per annum (plus 12% superannuation) dependent upon skills, experience and qualifications.
