Job summary

Barcaldine Regional Council in Central West Queensland seeks a Plant Operator (Grader) to safely operate grader and other plant across the Barcaldine region. You will support road construction and maintenance, working with the crew to keep the network safe and efficient.

The role requires at least 2 years’ experience operating plant, a valid QLD class C licence (HC desirable), and compliance with safety and pre-employment checks.

Qualifications

• Completion of National Criminal History Check.
• Pre-Employment Medical Examination.
• General Safety Induction Card (White/Blue Card) or Equivalent.
• Minimum QLD Class 'C' Drivers Licence.
• Minimum 2 years' experience operating plant.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Traffic Controller Licence (desirable).
• Traffic Management Implementation Qualification (desirable).
• QLD Class 'HC' Drivers Licence (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Operate Council grader and other plant/equipment to support road construction and maintenance.
• Maintain and improve road network safely, efficiently and to required standard.
• Collaborate with team to ensure quality workmanship and safe operation.

Position Details

Location: This position is based in Aramac with regional work and travel as required.

Classification Level: Level 6 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream B) Award – State 2017 and the Barcaldine Regional Council Certified Agreement 2025.

Wages and Benefits

• Minimum base salary of $75,471.45 per annum
• Superannuation (up to 12%)
• Relevant approved allowances
• Payment of Wages: Council employees are paid fortnightly
• Hours of Work: 76 hours over 9 days with a rostered day off (RDO) every fortnight
• Leave: Five (5) weeks annual leave per annum + 17.5% loading
• Fifteen (15) days Personal Leave (sick leave) per annum

The Role

The Role As a Plant Operator (Grader) , you will be primarily responsible for safely and effectively operating Council’s grader and other plant and equipment to support road construction and maintenance activities across the Barcaldine region. You will work collaboratively with the team to maintain and improve Council’s road network, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled plant operator with grader experience who takes pride in quality workmanship, safe operation, teamwork and contributing to essential regional infrastructure.

To Be Successful You Will Have:

• Completion of a National Criminal History Check to Council's Satisfaction
