Job summary

Blue Mountains City Council in Katoomba NSW seeks a dependable plant operator to join our civil construction team. You will safely undertake plant operation and maintenance duties to support the roads and drainage program in accordance with Council policy.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in road construction, drainage and concrete works, with certification or training in operating plant and equipment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in road construction, maintenance procedures and drainage/civil works.
• Certification/training in plant operation and maintenance.
• Literacy and numeracy to complete standard forms.
• Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Competence with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Commitment to WHS and EEO principles.
• Customer service orientation.

Are you mechanically minded? Looking for a different career? We are looking for a plant operator to join our operational area. We are looking for reliable, dependable, and flexible individuals to join the civil construction team to safely undertake plant operator and maintenance duties to complete program objectives for the maintenance and construction of Council’s roads and drainage network in accordance with Council policy and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude, a willingness to follow instructions, a team player and proven experience that support the operations and maintenance relating to plant operations, labouring and other works including but not limited to Council’s roads, drainage and footpath assets.

We are seeking candidates that take pride in their work, have a positive attitude, are punctual, reliable, hardworking, and able to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment. The candidate will bring the following to the role:

• Demonstrated experience in road construction, maintenance procedures, drainage works, other civil works & concrete works including labouring duties
• Demonstrated experience through certification and/or training in the operation and maintenance of plant and equipment.
• Demonstrated literacy and numeracy skills to follow written communication and complete standard forms.
• Proven ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
• Sound experience in the use of computers including Microsoft excel, Microsoft word and Outlook
• Knowledge of and commitment to Work Health and Safety and Equal Employment Opportunity principles

Remuneration:base salary commencing at $63,644 gross per annum

• adverse working conditions allowance of $1,189.62 gross per annum
• 12% superannuation
• annual performance-based salary increases / bonus (1-3.5%)
• annual award increase
