Job summary

Douglas Shire Council is seeking a Plant Operator to support day-to-day operation of the treatment plant, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation. The role requires basic maths, good communication, and teamwork to support process control activities.

Applicants should hold a Certificate III in Wastewater Treatment Operations, a current Queensland driver’s licence (C/LR or MR), and a White Card. Training and development opportunities are available within Infrastructure and Recovery.

Job description

Douglas Shire Council is seeking a Plant Operator who will provide the required operational input, as directed, to undertake process control duties associated with the day-to-day operation of the treatment plant, ensuring compliance with all relevant State and Federal legislation.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Secondary education to Year-10 with good writing and communication skills and an understanding of basic mathematics.
• Current Queensland Driver’s Licence Class (C, LR) (minimum requirement) or current “MR” class licence or the ability to acquire.
• Working Safely at Heights.
• Current Certificate III in Wastewater Treatment Operations.
• General Safety Induction (Construction Industry) White Card.
• Sufficient physical wellbeing to receive training and accreditation for confined space entry, breathing apparatus and liquified chlorine gas.
• Forklift Licence or the ability to obtain.
• A common-sense, hands‑on approach to the resolution of problems.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs.
• An ability to work with spreadsheets and word processing software.
• Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
