Job summary

Metricon Homes' Everyone division is seeking a Planning & Permits Coordinator to drive planning, civil design, demolition, subdivision and building permit processes across infill sites in Australia. You will coordinate multiple stakeholders to achieve timely approvals.

The role emphasizes regulatory compliance, pre-site and onsite tasks, RFI/EOT management, and a focus on continuous improvement. You will report to the Permits Team Leader and support client reporting and workflow coordination.

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of building and planning regulations.
  • 4+ years experience in residential home building industry.
  • 2+ years experience in Town Planning / Building Permit departments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Experience with interstate planning schemes and permit processes (e.g. NSW, QLD, SA) desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate/Manage Planning including Civil Design, Demolition, Subdivision, Service Connection & Building Permit process to achieve timely approval.
  • Drive efficiency gains and continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and manage RFIs, EOT, variations and EWA management.
  • Manage customer/PM system from sales accept to PCC handover.

Reporting to the Permits Team Leader, your responsibilities will include:
  • Responsible and accountable for performance of Planning & Permit delivery , including client reporting
  • Coordinate/Manage Planning including Civil Design, Demolition, Subdivision, Service Connection & Building Permit process, applications, reports, tasks and associated documents, driving execution with the goal of achieving timely approval
  • Be instrumental in driving efficiency gains and continuous improvement
  • Assessments for regulatory, planning and developer compliance, including but not limited to siting, zoning, MCP and covenant compliance
  • Coordinate/Manage Planning & Building Permit tasks and associated documents with the goal of achieving timely approval
  • Drive projects through each department/external contractor for a timely ACC/Site Start
  • Have the ability to diverse between Pre-site & Onsite tasks as required and directed by Management
  • Complete detailed tracking sheets to identify timelines and actions within each project
  • Prepare and manage Request for Information (RFI’s) documents, Extension of Time (EOT) claims, variations, project claims and Early Works Agreement (EWA) management
  • Manage a Customer/PM Management system from sales accept, contract signing and ongoing relationship management until job is provided to PCC team for onsite
  • Manage and maintain Workflow Management – Planning & Permits Co Ordination
  • Complete and ensure all required reports are accurate and kept up to date; and
  • Ensure effective quality control measures are in place.

The successful candidate will have:
  • A demonstrable / extensive knowledge of building and planning regulations – particularly in identifying and addressing pre-site design, drafting, and construction issues associated with the complexities of infill construction sites.
  • 4+ years experience in the residential home building industry (unit sites, medium density)
  • 2+ years experience in Town Planning / Building Permit departments/applications
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and have a flexible/adaptable work ethic
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including: Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook
  • ClickHomes or Similar software knowledge preferable
  • Sharepoint knowledge preferable
  • Microsoft Project or Similar Software knowledge preferable
  • Working knowledge of the following processes: Sales, Workflow, Drafting, Estimating (Sales and Production), Contracts Administration and Construction
  • Experience with interstate planning schemes and permit processes (eg: NSW, QLD and SA) is highly desirable
