Job summary

Rio Tinto is seeking a HME Planner – Major Works to join the Major Works Heavy Mobile Equipment team. You will plan maintenance activities across Pilbara operations, support outages, and ensure work is delivered safely and efficiently.

The role reports to the Superintendent Major Works – HME and works on an 8/6 roster with focus on fleet reliability and collaboration with stakeholders. You will lead planning for major works, coordinate labour and contractor resources, and develop schedules while

Qualifications

• Experience planning and coordinating maintenance, shutdowns or major works activities within mining, heavy mobile equipment or another industrial environment.
• Demonstrated leadership capability with experience coaching, developing and supporting teams to deliver operational outcomes.
• Strong understanding of work management, resource planning and scheduling principles.
• Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Outlook and Word.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning activities for heavy mobile equipment major works, shutdowns and outages to support safe and reliable fleet performance.
• Coordinate labour, accommodation, logistics, materials and contractor resources to ensure maintenance activities are work-ready.
• Develop and maintain major work schedules, monitoring compliance, risks and resource requirements throughout execution.
• Provide technical planning support to maintenance leaders, supervisors and asset management teams to optimise shutdown outcomes.
• Manage contractor performance and support contract review activities to improve service delivery and value outcomes.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance planning processes, work management practices and operational efficiency.
• Coach and support supervisors and maintenance personnel in work management processes, planning standards and scheduling practices.
• Monitor budgets, forecasts and maintenance costs to support the delivery of cost-effective maintenance services.

Where you’ll be working

Tom Price is located in the central Pilbara region, west of Karijini National Park and is our original Pilbara mine, currently employing residential and fly-in fly-out employees. It is known as one of the most attractive towns in the Pilbara with a high school, two primary schools, a hospital and a high standard of recreational facilities.
