Job summary

Mornington Peninsula Shire is seeking planning professionals to join its Statutory Planning team in Mornington. The roles include a temporary full-time position until January 2028 and a permanent full-time role, both offering a hybrid working model.

Band 5 salary ranges from $82,384.77 to $95,173.89 per year plus superannuation, with a focus on delivering robust planning assessments and strong stakeholder engagement within Victoria's dynamic landscape.

About the Role

Reporting to the Team Leader – Statutory Planning, key responsibilities include:

• Deliver timely and robust assessment of planning applications, providing clear advice and working collaboratively with internal teams, the community, and external authorities to achieve coordinated outcomes.
• Provide clear, credible planning advice and demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement, supporting transparent, defensible decisions and effectively representing Council in external forums, including VCAT.
• Embed organisational values in decision making and service delivery, promoting integrity, continuous improvement, and high-quality customer outcomes while contributing to a capable, high-performing team.

About You

• Undergraduate degree in town planning or a related discipline (e.g. environmental science, urban design, land surveying, architecture, etc.). Some experience in a planning related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders, manage challenging interactions professionally, and negotiate practical outcomes.
