Job summary

Northern Beaches Council seeks a Planner for up to 12-month parental leave coverage. You will manage multiple planning applications, provide planning advice to residents, and appear as an expert witness at planning panels and in court when required.

A Town Planning qualification and strong report-writing skills are essential. The role offers a supportive team, flexible working options including potential remote arrangements, and a salary in the upper six figures plus super.

Qualifications

• Bachelor level qualification in Town Planning or equivalent is required.
• Strong project management and organisational skills with ability to prioritise.
• Experience preparing reports and presenting to Local/Planning Panels & Land and Environment Court.

Responsibilities

• Effectively manage and assess multiple planning applications concurrently.
• Act as expert witness in Land and Environment Court appeals and represent Council at planning panels.
• Provide planning advice and high-level customer service to residents of the Northern Beaches.

Title: Planner - Up to 12-month Parental Leave Position

Salary Range: $105821.37 to $122981.63 per annum + super (subject to skills and experience)

Our opportunity

• Ability to effectively manage and assess multiple planning applications simultaneously, ensuring timely and accurate assessments are delivered.
• Acting as an expert witness in Land and Environment Court appeals, managing and representing Council at planning panels
• Attending to planning enquires, providing planning advice and providing high level customer service to the residents of the Northern Beaches

Who we are looking for

• Tertiary qualification in Town Planning or equivalent
• Excellent project management and organisational skills with ability to undertake a range of tasks and prioritise work to meet deadlines
• Practical experience and exposure to preparing reports and presenting to Local and Planning Panels and the Land and Environment Court
• Current NSW Class C Drivers Licence
• Experience with Technology One, Content Manager, Objective Trapeze, or similar software is highly regarded
