Job summary

Service Stream is seeking a Network Planning & Analysis professional to assess network performance, capacity constraints and future load requirements in Victoria. You will model HV/LV options, evaluate constraints, and contribute to long-term asset strategies while preparing planning applications and ensuring regulatory compliance.

You will liaise with internal engineers, operations and external councils and contractors, applying Australian standards and utility guidelines to deliver robust

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (Desirable).
  • Knowledge of AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 7000 and utility guidelines.
  • Experience with Victorian DNSPs (AusNet, Powercor, Jemena, United Energy, CitiPower) is desirable.
  • Ability to interpret electrical distribution networks (HV/LV) and apply planning standards.
  • Proficiency with network modelling tools and reading drawings/contracts.

About the Role

Primary Location VIC - Ferntree Gully

  • Network Planning & Analysis
    • Assess network performance, capacity constraints, and future load requirements.
    • Model network options (HV/LV), evaluate constraints, and identify optimal solutions.
    • Contribute to long-term asset and network strategies.
  • Application & Documentation Development
    • Prepare planning applications for Electrical Distribution Business’ including:
      • Network augmentation applications
      • Customer connection planning assessments
    • Ensure all documentation meets regulatory standards (DNSP guidelines, Vic Electricity Distribution Code)
    • Write clear technical narratives that communicate need, scope, risk and justification
  • Stakeholder & Customer Engagement
    • Liaise with internal stakeholders (engineering, operations, construction leads)
    • Engage with external customers, councils, developers and contractors.
    • Provide expert advice regarding network constraints, and planning standards.
  • Regulatory & Compliance Responsibilities (Ensure planning solutions comply with):
    • Electricity Distribution Code
    • National Electricity Rules (relevant sections)
    • Company planning standards
    • Safety and environmental requirements
About you
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (Desirable)
  • Previous work with Victorian DNSPs (e.g., AusNet, Powercor, Jemena, United Energy, CitiPower) - Desirable
  • Knowledge of relevant Australian standards (AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 7000) + utility guidelines
  • Strong understanding of electrical distribution networks (HV/LV).
  • Ability to interpret and apply network planning standards
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and contracts.
  • Proficiency with network modelling tools
  • Prior experience in Power industry
  • Demonstrated experience preparing planning or technical documentation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project
  • Strong communications skills (written & verbal)
  • Knowledge of Distribution business systems and working experience (desirable).
