Job summary

Service Stream is seeking a Planner in Victoria to support the Power business by assessing network performance, modelling HV/LV options, and contributing to long-term asset strategies. The role involves preparing planning applications, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with engineers, operations, councils and contractors.

Ideal candidates have electrical distribution experience, knowledge of Australian standards, and strong analytical and communication skills for documenting

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of AS/NZS 3000 & AS/NZS 7000 + utility guidelines
  • Experience with Victorian DNSPs (AusNet, Powercor, Jemena, United Energy, CitiPower)
  • Strong understanding of HV/LV electrical distribution networks
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and contracts
  • Proficiency with network modelling tools
  • Prior experience in Power industry
  • Demonstrated experience preparing planning or technical documentation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project
  • Strong communications skills (written & verbal)
  • Knowledge of Distribution business systems

Responsibilities

Job description

With a healthy amount of work currently under management, we are seeking a Planner within our Victorian Power business. This is a versatile role within the utilities division that will draw on your strong electrical distribution network experience and understanding, helping continue our high levels of standards and success within electrical distribution.

About the Role

Your responsibilities will include:

Network Planning & Analysis

Assess network performance, capacity constraints, and future load requirements.

Model network options (HV/LV), evaluate constraints, and identify optimal solutions.

Contribute to long-term asset and network strategies.

Application & Documentation Development

Prepare planning applications for Electrical Distribution Business’ including:

Customer connection planning assessments

Ensure all documentation meets regulatory standards (DNSP guidelines, Vic Electricity Distribution Code)

Write clear technical narratives that communicate need, scope, risk and justification

Liaise with internal stakeholders (engineering, operations, construction leads)

Engage with external customers, councils, developers and contractors.

Provide expert advice regarding network constraints, and planning standards.

Regulatory & Compliance Responsibilities (Ensure planning solutions comply with):

Electricity Distribution Code

National Electricity Rules (relevant sections)

Safety and environmental requirements

About you

Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (Desirable)

Previous work with Victorian DNSPs (e.g., AusNet, Powercor, Jemena, United Energy, CitiPower) - Desirable

Knowledge of relevant Australian standards (AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 7000) + utility guidelines

Strong understanding of electrical distribution networks (HV/LV).

Ability to interpret and apply network planning standards

Ability to read and interpret drawings and contracts.

Proficiency with network modelling tools

Prior experience in Power industry

Demonstrated experience preparing planning or technical documentation

Proficient in Microsoft Project

Strong communications skills (written & verbal)

Knowledge of Distribution business systems and working experience (desirable).
