Job summary

GForce Recruitment is seeking a skilled Pipe Layer Crew Leader to join a busy civil site in Geelong. You will lead a crew, supervise pipe laying, drainage and underground services, and ensure works are completed safely and to high standards.

The role requires planning, interpreting plans and strong leadership, with a White Card and reliable transport. Full-time hours with site-based duties and a company vehicle may be provided.

Qualifications

• Experience as Civil Pipe Layer and/or Leading Hand required.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings and levels.
• Strong commitment to health and safety on-site.

Job description

We are currently seeking a skilled and proactive Pipe Layer Crew Leader to join our client's experienced and capable team immediately.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced civil construction professional who thrives in a hands-on leadership role and has extensive knowledge of pipe laying, drainage systems, and underground services.

About the Position

As a Leading Hand, you will play a key role in overseeing site operations while working alongside your crew to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

You will be responsible for coordinating daily activities, maintaining productivity, and ensuring all works comply with project specifications and safety requirements.

Key Duties

• Supervise and lead civil pipe laying teams on-site.
• Set out, install, and maintain stormwater, sewer, and drainage infrastructure.
• Interpret construction plans, drawings, and levels accurately.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with project requirements and quality standards.
• Coordinate daily workloads and communicate effectively with Site Supervisors and Project Managers.
• Operate and work safely around excavators, trenching equipment, and other civil machinery.
• Perform trenching, bedding, pipe installation, backfilling, and related civil construction activities.
• Promote and enforce workplace health, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Complete site records, reports, and required documentation.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

• Demonstrated experience as a Civil Pipe Layer and/or Leading Hand.
• Strong understanding of drainage systems, underground services, and civil infrastructure projects.
• The ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, and set-out levels.
• Sound knowledge of civil construction methods and best practices.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
• A strong commitment to health and safety on-site.
• Reliable transport and a positive, hardworking attitude.
• A current White Card (essential).
