Job summary

Gforce Employment Solutions is seeking a skilled Pipe Layer Crew Leader to oversee on-site civil pipe laying, drainage, and underground services. You will lead a crew, read plans, and ensure safe, compliant execution of works in Geelong and surrounding sites.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience as a Civil Pipe Layer and/or Leading Hand.
• Strong understanding of drainage systems, underground services, and civil infrastructure projects.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, and set-out levels.
• Sound knowledge of civil construction methods and best practices.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
• A strong commitment to health and safety on-site.
• Reliable transport and a positive, hardworking attitude.
• A current White Card (essential).

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead civil pipe laying teams on-site.
• Set out, install, and maintain stormwater, sewer, and drainage infrastructure.
• Interpret construction plans, drawings, and levels accurately.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with project requirements and quality standards.
• Coordinate daily workloads and communicate effectively with Site Supervisors and Project Managers.
• Operate and work safely around excavators, trenching equipment, and other civil machinery.
• Perform trenching, bedding, pipe installation, backfilling, and related civil construction activities.
• Promote and enforce workplace health, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Complete site records, reports, and required documentation.

We are currently seeking a skilled and proactive Pipe Layer Crew Leader to join our client’s experienced and capable team immediately.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced civil construction professional who thrives in a hands‑on leadership role and has extensive knowledge of pipe laying, drainage systems, and underground services.

About the Position

As a Leading Hand, you will play a key role in overseeing site operations while working alongside your crew to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

You will be responsible for coordinating daily activities, maintaining productivity, and ensuring all works comply with project specifications and safety requirements.

Key Duties

• Supervise and lead civil pipe laying teams on-site.
• Set out, install, and maintain stormwater, sewer, and drainage infrastructure.
