Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Pharmacy Assistant to join the team at AMCAL Gorokan Pharmacy in Gorokan, NSW. This is a full-time position offering an excellent opportunity to develop your career in pharmacy and healthcare. As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacists and ensuring the smooth operation of our pharmacy, whilst delivering exceptional service to our customers. This position is integral to maintaining our high standards of patient care and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

Assisting pharmacists with the preparation and dispensing of medications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant regulations

Managing inventory and stock rotation, maintaining accurate records of pharmaceutical products

Processing prescriptions and managing customer transactions at the pharmacy counter

Providing excellent customer service, answering general enquiries about over-the-counter medicines and health products

Maintaining a clean, hygienic and organised pharmacy environment in accordance with health and safety standards

Supporting the pharmacist with administrative tasks, including filing, labelling and record keeping

Handling cash and payment systems accurately and securely

Assisting with the receipt and storage of pharmaceutical deliveries

What we’re looking for

A relevant qualification or certification as a Pharmacy Assistant, or willingness to obtain one

Strong numeracy and literacy skills, with meticulous attention to detail

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and healthcare professionals

Reliability and a strong work ethic, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Basic computer literacy and proficiency with pharmacy management systems (training provided)

Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to pharmacy operations

A genuine interest in healthcare and pharmacy practice

Previous retail or customer service experience is advantageous
