Job summary

North West Hospital and Health Service in Mount Isa seeks a Pharmacist to deliver professional clinical pharmacy and patient-focused services across clinical and dispensary areas.

You will participate in medication reviews, drug information, and collaborative prescribing, with opportunities in quality improvement, staff development, and policy development within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Pharmacy degree and current registration with Pharmacy Board of Australia.
• Experience in clinical pharmacy settings or hospital pharmacy is preferred.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and deliver patient-centred care.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional clinical pharmacy services across clinical and dispensary areas.
• Contribute to medication reviews, medication histories and therapeutic drug monitoring.

About the role

As a Pharmacist, you'll provide professional, client-focused clinical pharmacy services within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment, with support and guidance aligned to your level of experience. You'll rotate through clinical and dispensary areas, contributing to medication reviews, medication histories, therapeutic drug monitoring, discharge planning and counselling, drug information services and collaborative prescribing activities.

You'll also have opportunities to contribute to quality improvement, professional development, staff training and supervision, and the ongoing development of pharmacy policies and practices.

Working with us

• Eligible health practitioners entitled to accrue an additional three days professional development leave per annum, resulting in a total of six days professional development leave per annum.
• Eligible health practitioners working in designated remote areas will be entitled to a professional development allowance of $3,512.00 per annum.
• Rural and Remote incentive: Category D allowance of $431.22 p.f.
• Tax savings through salary sacrificing options are also available.
• Transfer and appointment expenses may be negotiated.

Requirements

• Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences.
• The successful applicant must have completed a Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree Course, or equivalent, from a recognised tertiary institution, and possess current registration, or be eligible for registration, as a Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency).
• This position participates in a Pharmacy Department roster plan, which may include an On Call Service and weekend work.
• C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
• Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
• This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
• A period of probation may apply.
