Job summary

Rentokil Initial is seeking a pest management technician focused on birds to install bird netting and conduct site inspections for both commercial and residential customers. You’ll work autonomously on varied client sites, using hand and power tools to install equipment and to troubleshoot pest concerns.

The role involves communicating with clients, identifying opportunities, and adhering to safety protocols. A driver’s license is preferred; flexibility for weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Background in carpentry or general handyman work and enjoys hands‑on problem‑solving.
• Practical technical skills and experience using tools to install bird management solutions.
• Ability to install hardware and equipment with power tools.
• Willingness to work within safety parameters and communicate clearly with clients.

Responsibilities

• Primarily installing bird netting to prevent perching and roosting.
• Inspecting client premises for signs of pests.
• Carrying out measures to eliminate pests.
• Identifying sales leads in the region where possible.
• Building rapport with clients and explaining eradication and prevention processes.
• Use of power tools to install hardware and equipment.
• Flexible work hours, including weekends and paid public holidays.

As a pest control technician - birds, you’ll be responsible for working with commercial and residential customers to keep their premises bird-free.

About the role:

• This role is ideal for individuals with a background in carpentry or general handyman work who enjoy hands‑on problem‑solving.
• Your practical technical skills and experience using tools will be key to successfully installing bird management solutions across various client sites.
• Primarily installing bird netting to prevent perching and roosting in these areas
• Inspecting client premises thoroughly for any signs of pests
• Carrying out measures as required to eliminate the pests
• Identifying sales leads in the region where possible
• Building rapport with and communicating with clients regarding the eradication and prevention process
• Use of power tools to install hardware and various equipment
• An ability to consistently work within both our clients' and Rentokil's safety parameters
• Communicate to internal stakeholders and clients both orally and in writing
• Flexible work hours. Could include paid public holidays and weekends

Desirable but not essential:

• Current and valid Australian driver's licence
• High-risk licence EWP - if not, can support you to obtain
• White Card Construction - if not, can support you to obtain
• Working at Heights - if not, can support you to obtain
• Physically fit and able to work autonomously and drive long distances
• Confident using Android mobile phone service app/tablet
