Ashcare in Thornbury, Victoria, is seeking a compassionate Personal Care Worker who can communicate in Arabic to support aged and disability clients. The role is casual, offering flexible scheduling and the chance to make a meaningful difference in people’s daily lives.

Qualifications

• Fluent in Arabic (spoken and ideally written) to communicate with clients.
• Demonstrated experience in personal care, aged care or disability support.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care including activities of daily living.

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Personal Care Worker - Arabic speaking to join our team at Ashcare in Thornbury, Victoria. This is a casual position that offers flexibility and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our clients. As a Personal Care Worker, you will provide essential support to aged and disability clients, with your Arabic language skills being invaluable in delivering culturally sensitive and responsive care to our Arabic-speaking clients.

Key responsibilities

Provide personal care support including assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting

Deliver culturally appropriate care with sensitivity to clients' cultural backgrounds and preferences

Communicate effectively with Arabic-speaking clients in their preferred language, ensuring clear understanding of their needs and wishes

Assist with meal preparation and feeding where required

Support clients with mobility and transfers, utilising appropriate techniques and equipment

Maintain accurate records and documentation of care provided and any concerns or observations

Promote clients' independence, dignity and wellbeing in all interactions

Work collaboratively with other care staff and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and quality care

Maintain a safe, clean and hygienic environment for clients

Respond promptly and compassionately to clients' requests and concerns

What we're looking for

Fluency in Arabic language (spoken and ideally written) to communicate effectively with clients

Current First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain this

Working With Children Check (WWCC) and Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) clearance, or eligibility to obtain these

Demonstrated experience in personal care work, aged care or disability support services

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients

Physical capability to perform care duties including assisting with mobility and transfers

Commitment to person-centred care principles and respect for client dignity and independence

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Reliability, punctuality and a professional approach to work

Understanding of aged care and disability support standards and regulations is advantageous
