Job summary

Calvary Mt Carmel Retirement Community - Maitland is seeking a dedicated Personal Care Worker to join our compassionate team in Maitland, NSW. This casual role focuses on delivering high-quality personal care to residents, supporting independence and dignity in daily activities.

You will work within an established framework, under the guidance of the Registered Nurse, to implement care plans and assist with residents’ daily living and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in individual support or equivalent (Essential)
• Current NDIS Check or willingness to obtain (Essential)
• Experience with dementia care
• Effective interpersonal communication; both written and verbal
• Ability to prioritise workloads
• Flexibility, empathy and patience with aged persons
• Ability to provide holistic care
• Respect for residents’ privacy, dignity and self-esteem
• Commitment to continuous quality improvement
• Working knowledge of WH&S and infection control

About the role

The position of Personal Care Worker is part of an integrated team of people working within an established and agreed framework attending to the personal needs of residents. The Personal Care Worker role is instrumental to ensuring that we are providing high quality care to our residents at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Support residents to live the life they choose allowing them to exercise choice and independence.
• Contribute to the physical, emotional and lifestyle needs and wants of the residents, through assessment and observation.
• Implement clinical and care interventions as delegated by the Registered Nurse, and as documented in the resident’s plan of care.
• Assist the residents with their personal care and hygiene needs whilst encouraging their independence

About you

• Certificate III in individual support, or equivalent recognised qualification (Essential)
• Current NDIS Check or willingness to obtain (Essential)
• Ability to engage with residents and experience in dementia support
• Effective interpersonal communication; both written and verbal
• Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads
• Demonstrated flexibility, empathy and patience with the aged person and their needs
• Demonstrated ability to provide holistic care
• Demonstrated respect for residents’ privacy, dignity and self esteem
• Commitment to continuous quality improvement
• Working knowledge of WH&S and Infection Control
