Job summary

Nexia Aged Care in Footscray, VIC is seeking a compassionate Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to join our casual pool. You will support residents with showering, dressing, mobility and daily activities, while upholding dignity, respect and person-centred care in a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Ageing) or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 6 months' experience in residential aged care
• Experience providing person-centred care, including grooming, showering, mobility, meals, toileting and social activities
• Caring, compassionate and respectful approach
• Good communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills
• Ability to provide care that respects residents' cultural backgrounds and individual preferences
• Additional language skills in Vietnamesen, Mandarin, Cantonese or Filipino or Tagalog would be highly regarded to support the communication and cultural needs of our residents

Responsibilities

• Assisting residents with showering, dressing, toileting and grooming while maintaining their dignity and privacy
• Assisting residents with walking, mobility aids and safe transfers
• Observing and reporting changes in residents' health, wellbeing or behaviour
• Supporting residents with meals, dietary requirements and hydration
• Maintaining accurate and timely care documentation
• Working closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure residents receive safe, quality care
• Spending meaningful time with residents and supporting their social, emotional and cultural needs

About the role

Personal Care Assistants are an integral part of our multidisciplinary team, working to provide a high standard of care that supports residents' individual needs, preferences, dignity and independence.

You’ll work as part of a team to assist with showering, dressing, mobility, meals and daily activities. You’ll also spend time with residents, share stories, build meaningful connections and show kindness and empathy.

We have casual opportunities available across morning, afternoon and night shifts, working alongside experienced carers and nursing staff.

Key responsibilities

• Assisting residents with showering, dressing, toileting and grooming while maintaining their dignity and privacy
• Assisting residents with walking, mobility aids and safe transfers
