Job summary

Doutta Galla Aged Services is seeking an experienced Personal Care Assistant to join our not-for-profit team in the Melbourne western suburbs. You will provide respectful personal care, assist with daily living activities, meals, and mobility support, and help residents maintain independence and dignity.

Ideal candidates have Certificate III or IV in Aged Care or Disability, experience with dementia, and the ability to communicate effectively with residents and families.

Qualifications

• Experience in providing personal care in an aged care setting.
• Dementia care experience preferred.
• Strong communication with residents, families and multidisciplinary teams.

We have casual opportunities available across our aged care homes located in Melbourne western suburbs, offering flexibility to suit your availability while allowing you to provide high-quality, person-centred care in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide respectful personal care, including hygiene assistance, dressing and mobility supportto the residents.
• Assist residents with daily living activities and meals.
• Foster independence, dignity, and individual choice for each resident.
• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with Aged Care Quality Standards.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

What you will bring:

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in personal care ideally in an aged care setting
• Experience caring for people living with dementia.Certificate III or Certificate IV in Aged Care/Disability (or equivalent e.g. Individual Support)
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and non-verbally with residents living with dementia and/or where English is a second language.
• Demonstrated ability to document concisely and effectively in resident progress notes
• Ability to work effectively and respectfully in a team environment.
• Knowledge of the Care Plan process and the relevant assessments required.
• Compassionate, patient, and respectful approach.
