Job summary

Purple DPSS is seeking a Personal Assistant/Support Worker to care for N, a 6-year-old with autism and developmental delay, in Cambridge. The role covers daily support, personal care, and engagement in activities such as swimming and cinema, with training provided for PEG feeding.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support for N with daily routines and activities.
• Assist with personal care including pad changes due to incontinence.
• Support PEG feeding; training provided by the family.
• Promote wellbeing, independence and engagement in swimming, cinema, arcade and community activities.

Personal Assistant (PA)/Support Worker-PUR-577-406

N is a happy, sensitive and kind 6-year-old boy with autism and developmental

delay. He has limited verbal communication and has an energetic and bubbly

personality.

N enjoys swimming, going to the cinema, visiting the arcade and having treats at

dessert cafés. He enjoys getting out and about and would benefit from someone

who can build a positive rapport with him and support him to engage in activities.

Hours and rate of

pay hours

78 hours @ £13 ph available to be used flexibly, including weekends and school

holidays.

The working pattern will be agreed with family.

Location

Cambridge, CB2 area

DBS/Checks

Confirmation of an Enhanced DBS check.

Right to Work and references will be needed.

What you would

Support N to access activities he enjoys, including Swimming, the Cinema, the

Arcade, Dessert cafés and Community activities while promoting his wellbeing,

independence and engagement.

Provide one-to-one support for N with his daily routine, personal care including

pad changes, as N is incontinent.

Support N with PEG feeding. Previous experience is desirable, although the

family is happy to provide training.

Maintain close supervision when supporting N in the community, as he may

approach or grab unfamiliar people. Good awareness and quick reactions will

therefore be important to ensure his safety.
