Disability North is seeking a friendly Personal Assistant in Newcastle upon Tyne to support Nile, a polite teenager with ASD, ADHD and a language disorder. The role involves helping Nile access community activities, build confidence and make friends, with no personal care required.

The position is part-time (about 5 hours per week, Saturdays 12pm–5pm) at £15.00 per hour. You should be honest, reliable, calm, patient, active and able to swim; experience with ADHD or language disorders is helpful

We are looking for a friendly, reliable and active Personal Assistant to support Nile, a polite and engaging teenager, to access the community, build confidence and make friends.

Nile has ASD, ADHD and a language disorder. He enjoys being active and has interests in Muay Thai, swimming, the gym, travel, motorbikes, BMX bikes and Xbox racing games. He can be shy at first but is very chatty once comfortable, so patience and a good sense of humour are essential.

No personal care is required.

The Role Includes:

• Supporting Nile with activities such as the gym, swimming, trampolining, climbing and cinema trips
• Encouraging positive social and conversational skills
• Ensuring his safety while out and about
• Reminding him about personal space, voice volume and drying after swimming

You Should Be:

• Honest, reliable, calm and patient

• A good listener and conversationalist
• Able to swim

Experience of ADHD or language disorders is helpful but not essential.
