Job summary

Blacktown City Council is seeking a Ground-based Arborist to maintain street and park trees, support planting programs and assist aerial crews to keep the urban canopy safe and healthy. You will prune and remove trees from ground level, operate chippers and stump grinders, and help with planting and establishing new trees.

You will work in a small team, share knowledge with apprentices, and contribute to safe, well-presented public spaces. Ongoing training and development are provided.

Qualifications

• Outdoor, practical work in parks and streets.
• Willingness to work with apprentices and share knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Prune and remove trees from the ground.
• Operate chippers and stump grinders.
• Install traffic control and inspect trees.
• Maintain equipment and assist planting of new trees.
• Water, mulch and care for young trees.
