Job summary

Blacktown City Council is seeking a qualified arborist to maintain and plant trees across parks and streets. The role involves climbing, pruning, rigging, and removals, and mentoring apprentices in practical arboriculture skills.

You will work with a team to ensure safety, health, and appearance of the city’s trees, using equipment like chippers, stump grinders, and elevated platforms. Training and development opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Qualified climbing arborist with experience in tree maintenance
• Experience in climbing and rigging
• Willingness to mentor apprentices during practical arboriculture training

Responsibilities

• Climb and prune trees and perform rigging/removals
• Operate chippers and stump grinders
• Conduct aerial tree work with ropes and harnesses
• Use elevated work platforms as required
• Inspect trees and report defects, maintain equipment
• Assist with tree planting and establishment across parks and streets
