Job summary

NSW Health in Cessnock is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Surgical Services team. You will work across perioperative settings, from pre-admission through recovery, contributing to patient care along the surgical journey in a dedicated team at Cessnock Hospital.

The role involves pre-admission, day stay and operating theatre exposure, with opportunities to educate patients and families and to collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists and the multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
• Experience across perioperative settings including pre-admission, day stay and/or operating theatre.
• Clinical skills across anaesthetics, recovery, circulating and/or instrument nursing.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
• Screen and assess patients in the Preadmission Clinic.
• Prepare and support patients before surgery.
• Provide post-operative care in Day Stay Unit and Recovery.
• Assist in operating theatre across anaesthetic, recovery, circulating and instrument roles.
• Monitor patient condition and escalate concerns as needed.
• Educate patients and families throughout the perioperative journey.
