Job summary

NSW Health is seeking a Chief Operations Assistant to lead a 20‑person Operations Assistants team in the Northern Beaches Hospital operating theatre environment. You will coordinate patient transport, supply chain and support services to ensure safe, efficient elective and emergency surgery.

The role demands strong leadership, clear communication, and flexibility to cover afternoons, evenings, and nights as part of a seven‑day roster in a fast paced surgical setting.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Previous leadership experience in an acute setting.
• Experience in intraoperative theatre duties or willingness to learn.
• Ability to commit to a roster with afternoon/evening shifts across 7 days.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise approximately 20 FTE Operations Assistants.
• Coordinate patient transport and operating theatre support.
• Ensure clean, stocked environment and proper equipment handling.
• Manage rostering, attend department meetings and relevant committees.
• Assist with transfer of medications between inpatient pharmacy and theatres.
