Job summary

Sydney Adventist Hospital is seeking a committed Operating Theatre Assistant Coordinator to lead the OTA team in delivering patient‑centred perioperative care. You will coordinate day‑to‑day operations, workforce deployment and theatre support services across the Perioperative Department.

You will mentor staff, manage rosters, oversee training, and collaborate with nursing and medical teams to ensure safe patient transport, equipment readiness and compliance with NSQHS standards.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership and team coordination capability.
• Experience working within an operating theatre or perioperative environment.
• Previous experience leading, supervising or coordinating a support services team.
• Experience coordinating workflow and supporting operational service delivery in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Relevant healthcare, patient services or support services experience.
• A strong understanding of workplace health and safety, infection control and manual handling requirements.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
• A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to prioritise tasks and adapt to changing operational demands.
• Commitment to delivering exceptional patient-centred care and fostering a positive team culture.
• Certificate III in Health Services Assistance, First Aid Certificate or other relevant qualifications would be highly regarded, though not essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Operating Theatre Assistant (OTA) team and coordinate day-to-day theatre support services.
• Oversee roster allocation, workloads, and on-boarding/training of OTA staff.
• Ensure safe patient transport, equipment management, and collaboration with nursing and perioperative teams.
• Maintain compliance with health and safety, NSQHS standards, and infection prevention.
