Job summary

Bayside Health is seeking a Peri-operative Coordinator to manage the patient’s planned surgery care and journey, including preadmission workups, tests and documentation. The role operates within The Alfred and the Patient Service Centre, collaborating with surgical units and the medical head of unit.

Key requirements include acute medical/surgical nursing experience, autonomous work style, AHPRA registration, and a postgraduate qualification is desirable. On-site facilities support the role.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in acute medical/surgical nursing.
• Critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work autonomously.
• Experience with multidisciplinary management of surgical patients (pre-admission, admission, discharge).
• Current registration with AHPRA.
• Postgraduate qualification desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manages patient’s planned surgery care and journey, including follow‑up of tests/scans and arranging preoperative work‑up.
• Coordinates with surgical units and liaises with the medical head of the unit.
• Works within the Patient Service Centre to ensure smooth patient flow on the day of surgery.
