Job summary

NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure seeks a People Data Analyst to deliver HR analytics, reporting and workforce insights. You'll work with large datasets to provide trends, risks and capability insights to leaders.

You'll develop standard and ad hoc reports, support statutory reporting, and drive data quality and automation. The role offers a 35-hour week, Parramatta office with flexible working and a 12-month temporary contract.

Qualifications

  • Experience analysing and reporting on workforce or HR data and translating findings for stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret large datasets and identify trends.
  • Experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI, Alteryx, Excel, SAP or similar.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience with large datasets from multiple source systems and data governance.

  • Temporary full-time opportunity (35 hours per week) up to 12 months
  • Office located in Parramatta with flexible working supported
  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $116,981.00 to $129,491.00 (Clerk Grade 7/8)

The role

As the People Data Analyst, you will play a key role in delivering people analytics, reporting and workforce insights that support informed decision making across the Department. Working with large and complex workforce datasets, you will prepare, analyse and interpret people data to provide meaningful insights into workforce trends, risks and capability needs. Your insights will help leaders understand workforce movements, capability gaps, diversity outcomes and workforce risks to support evidence based decision making and workforce planning.

You will develop and maintain standard and ad hoc HR reports, support mandatory workforce reporting requirements, and provide timely data extracts and analysis to meet emerging business needs. Leveraging your analytical capability, you will identify opportunities to improve data quality, reporting standards and workforce analytics practices, helping to ensure stakeholders have access to accurate, reliable and actionable information.

Working in a fast paced environment, you will collaborate with a range of stakeholders to deliver data-driven insights, support workforce planning and contribute to continuous improvement, reporting automation and analytics initiatives that strengthen people reporting and workforce insights across the organisation.

What you will bring to the role
  • Experience analysing and reporting on workforce, HR or other complex organisational data, with the ability to translate findings into actionable insights for stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience interpreting large datasets, identifying trends and providing evidence-based recommendations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining reports, dashboards and data visualisations using tools such as Power BI, Alteryx, Excel, SAP, HR systems or similar reporting and analytics platforms, with the ability to present information in a clear and meaningful way.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear, meaningful and customer-focused way.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, deliver work to agreed deadlines and maintain high standards of accuracy and quality.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities to enhance data quality, reporting processes and the overall effectiveness of people analytics services.
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets from multiple source systems, applying data governance principles and maintaining high standards of data quality, accuracy and integrity.
  • Experience supporting statutory, compliance or government reporting requirements will be highly regarded.
