Job summary

Salter Brothers Hospitality is looking to appoint a People Coordinator to join the People & Payroll team at our Central Services office in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane. You will work with property leaders to provide trusted HR support and help drive a high-performing culture.

Based in Fortitude Valley, you will support employment contracts, VEVO checks, and WorkCover processes while ensuring policy compliance and confidentiality across the business.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in a HR generalist or People & Culture role within hospitality.
• Solid understanding of Hospitality Industry Award, employment laws and compliance.
• Tertiary HR qualifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide trusted HR advice to team members and leaders on policies, procedures and legislation.
• Prepare employment contracts and variations, VEVO checks, and related documents.
• Support WorkCover claims management and return-to-work programs.
• Monitor legislative changes to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Maintain confidential employee records per requirements.
• Support development and improvement of People policies and initiatives.
• Provide administrative support across the People function.
• Contribute to People projects supporting business growth.

Join the People & Payroll team at Salter Brothers Hospitality as a People Coordinator.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced People Partner to play a key role in supporting our property teams and leaders. Based within our Central Services office in Fortitude Valley, you will work closely with operational leaders and the broader People & Payroll team to provide trusted advice, support organisational initiatives, and contribute to a positive and high-performing culture.

The role and key duties;

• Provide trusted advice and ongoing support to team members and leaders on people-related matters, policies, procedures, and employment legislation.
• Prepare employment contracts, employment variations, VEVO checks, and associated employment documentation.
• Support the management of WorkCover claims and facilitate effective return-to-work programs.
• Monitor changes to employment legislation, industrial instruments, and workplace relations matters to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in accordance with legislative and organisational requirements.
• Support the implementation, review, and continuous improvement of People policies, procedures, and initiatives.
• Provide administrative support across all aspects of the People function, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
• Contribute to People projects and organisational initiatives that support business growth and enhance the team member experience.

Essential criteria required to be considered;

• Minimum of 2-years experience in a HR generalist or People and Culture Coordinator position from a Hotel / Hospitality environment;
• Strong understanding and practical application of the Hospitality Industry (General) Award, employment legislation and workplace compliance requirements.
• Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline (preferred).
• Ability to make informed decisions and provide clear, accurate advice based on company policies, employment legislation and best practice.
• Demonstrated experience managing employee relations matters, including grievances, investigations and performance management processes.
• Strong ability to build effective relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion, tact and professionalism.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
