Job summary

Carlton Gardens Primary School in Melbourne is seeking a classroom teacher to plan, prepare and deliver programs that meet diverse student needs, using literacy and numeracy teaching as a core focus. Teachers in Range 1 and Range 2 contribute to the school program beyond the classroom as they gain experience.

You will model best practice, mentor student teachers, use student data to inform teaching, and engage with parents and the community while upholding the Department values and contributing

Qualifications

• SC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the teaching of literacy and numeracy, and responsiveness to student needs.
• SC2: Experience in planning high-impact teaching strategies guided by how students learn and evaluating impact on growth.
• SC3: Experience in monitoring and assessing student learning and using data to inform practice and provide feedback to students and parents.
• SC4: Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to collaborate with students, parents, colleagues and the school community.
• SC5: Behaviour and attitude aligned with Department values; commitment to reflection and professional learning.

Responsibilities

• Direct teaching of groups and individual students.
• Contribute to policy development and school programs.
• Undertake other duties as determined by the School Principal.
• Participate in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions.
• Support staff to implement school priorities and professional learning.
