Job summary

SCEGGS Darlinghurst is inviting applicants for a full-time PDHPE teaching role starting in 2027. The successful candidate will teach PDHPE, contribute to the IGSA sport program, and support a dynamic, faith-guided school community.

Ideal applicants will have NSW PDHPE curriculum knowledge, proven secondary classroom success including Stage 6 PDHPE, and a readiness to teach Stage 3 classes if needed. Weekend sport coaching experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Recent success in secondary classroom including Stage 6 PDHPE.
• Willingness to teach Stage 3 classes may be advantageous.

Job description

Applications are invited from enthusiastic and passionate PDHPE teachers for a full-time, permanent position in our energetic Sport and PDHPE Department, commencing at the start of 2027.

This role involves teaching PDHPE classes in addition to being actively involved in our IGSA sport program throughout the year.

As an experienced PDHPE teacher, you will have strong knowledge and understanding of the NSW PDHPE Curriculum and demonstrated recent success in the secondary classroom, including Stage 6 PDHPE and/or Health and Movement Science Courses. You will be innovative in your approach to teaching, collaborative in practice and ready to contribute to a dynamic team. You will model high standards of professional expertise and inspire your students. A willingness to teach Stage 3 classes may also be an advantage for this role.

The successful applicant will be a keen sportsperson, with a commitment to instilling this enjoyment and passion in students within a broad range of sporting contexts. You will have experience coaching girls’ sport, familiarity with the IGSA sporting programs, and be comfortable in managing a team of sports coaches. This component of the role involves conducting training sessions before and after school as well as involvement in the competitions on Saturday morning. Additional benefits are provided for staff in these roles including time off during the week and a reduced classroom teaching load.

Experience with Primary or Secondary IGSA Sport such as Touch Football or Netball would be viewed favourably.
