Job summary

Downer is seeking an experienced Payroll Test Analyst to join our team for a 12-month maximum-term contract. You will ensure the accuracy and compliance of payroll systems, across SAP Payroll and related HR platforms, collaborating with Payroll, HR, Technology and Project teams to deliver enhancements and legislative updates.

The role requires strong testing experience (SIT, UAT, regression), knowledge of payroll legislation, and proficiency with test management tools.

Qualifications

• Experience in Payroll Testing within SAP Payroll and/or SAP SuccessFactors ECP environments.
• Strong understanding of payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation, leave management, and compliance requirements.
• Experience across SIT, UAT, regression testing, payroll validation, and defect management processes.
• Proficiency with test management and defect tracking tools such as JIRA, qTest, ALM, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
• Advanced Excel skills with payroll reconciliations, data analysis, and validation activities.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
• Relevant qualifications in Information Technology, Business, Payroll, or related discipline. Experience with Tosca Automation, UKG/Kronos, Workforce Management systems, ServiceNow, or ISTQB certification will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Analyse business and functional requirements to define testing scope and approach.
• Design, develop, and execute test cases, test scripts, and test data for payroll-related changes.
• Conduct SIT, UAT, regression testing, and payroll calculation validation.
• Validate payroll outcomes against awards, enterprise agreements, taxation, superannuation, and legislative requirements.
• Perform payroll reconciliations and investigate discrepancies between expected and actual results.
• Manage defects through identification, tracking, retesting, and resolution to support quality outcomes.
• Maintain testing documentation, evidence, execution records, and stakeholder approvals.
• Collaborate with Payroll, HR, Technology teams, vendors, and project stakeholders to support system releases and continuous improvement initiatives.

This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of payroll systems through comprehensive testing across SAP Payroll and related HR platforms. Working closely with Payroll, HR, Technology, and Project teams, you will support the successful delivery of payroll enhancements, legislative updates, enterprise agreement changes, integrations, and system releases. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys solving complex payroll challenges and driving quality outcomes in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse business and functional requirements to define testing scope and approach.
• Design, develop, and execute test cases, test scripts, and test data for payroll-related changes.
• Conduct System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), regression testing, and payroll calculation validation.
• Validate payroll outcomes against awards, enterprise agreements, taxation, superannuation, leave entitlements, and legislative requirements.
• Perform payroll reconciliations and investigate discrepancies between expected and actual results.
• Manage defects through identification, tracking, retesting, and resolution to support quality outcomes.
• Maintain testing documentation, evidence, execution records, and stakeholder approvals.
• Collaborate with Payroll, HR, Technology teams, vendors, and project stakeholders to support successful system releases and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You Will Bring

• Demonstrated experience in Payroll Testing within SAP Payroll and/or SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll (ECP) environments.
• Strong understanding of payroll legislation, award interpretation, taxation, superannuation, leave management, and compliance requirements.
• Experience across SIT, UAT, regression testing, payroll validation, and defect management processes.
• Proficiency with test management and defect tracking tools such as JIRA, qTest, ALM, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
• Advanced Excel skills with experience performing payroll reconciliations, data analysis, and validation activities.
