Job summary

Senior Payroll Implementation Specialist (12-Month Fixed Term Contract) – Workday

Lead a critical payroll and workforce management transformation across Australia and New Zealand.

At Assurant, we're undertaking a significant payroll and workforce management transformation following a business acquisition. We're looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Implementation Specialist to lead and support the migration of payroll and workforce management platforms across Australia and New Zealand.

This is a highly visible role that combines strategic leadership with hands-on delivery. You'll work closely with Payroll, HR, Finance, Technology teams and external implementation partners both locally and globally to successfully transition the acquired business into Assurant's target-state solutions:

If you've successfully delivered complex payroll implementations, migrations, or transformation programs and can confidently navigate everything from awards interpretation through to testing, cutover and stabilisation, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Role

You will play a pivotal role in delivering a large-scale payroll and workforce management implementation program across Australia and New Zealand.

The scope includes:

• Payroll configuration and implementation
• Awards and Enterprise Agreement interpretation
• Leave, accrual and termination calculations
• Data migration and reconciliation
• System integrations
• Testing (SIT, UAT and parallel payrolls)
• Cutover planning and execution
• Post go-live support and stabilisation
• Finance and commercial reporting configuration

You will act as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor throughout the transformation, ensuring payroll compliance, data integrity and successful program outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Implementation & Transformation

• Lead end-to-end payroll migration and implementation activities across Australia and New Zealand.
• Partner with internal stakeholders and implementation vendors to deliver payroll and workforce management solutions.
• Configure and validate payroll processes, calculations and compliance requirements.
• Support payroll design workshops and business process reviews.
• Ensure successful data migration, reconciliation and payroll validation activities.

Testing, Cutover & Go-Live

• Lead SIT, UAT and parallel payroll testing activities.
• Develop and execute payroll testing strategies and plans.
• Coordinate cutover activities and transition planning.
• Manage post-go-live issue resolution and stabilisation support.

Compliance & Payroll Expertise

• Provide expert guidance on Australian and New Zealand payroll legislation.
• Interpret and configure Awards, Enterprise Agreements and payroll rules.
• Ensure accurate calculations for leave accruals, terminations, statutory payments and payroll compliance obligations.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with HR, Payroll and Finance teams across Australia and New Zealand.
• Partner with Assurant's global HR Technology and Enterprise Systems teams.
• Engage with external implementation partners and vendors.
• Provide regular project updates, risk assessments and recommendations.

What You'll Bring

• Demonstrated experience delivering payroll implementation, migration or transformation programs within Australia and New Zealand.
• Experience in Workday Reporting & Security including HCM, Time Tracking and Absence modules
• Strong knowledge of Australian and New Zealand payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
• Deep understanding of:
• Awards and Enterprise Agreements
• Leave accruals and leave management
• Terminations and final pay calculations
• Payroll taxation and statutory obligations
• Time and attendance systems
• Experience with payroll data migration, testing, parallel payrolls and cutover activities.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple stakeholders and priorities.

Preferred Experience

• Hands-on experience implementing or configuring ADP Payroll.
• Experience with Dormakaba Workforce Management or similar workforce management platforms.
• Exposure to complex, multi-country payroll environments.
• Experience configuring finance, costing and commercial reporting requirements.
• Strong project delivery and stakeholder management capability.
