Brisbane City Council is seeking a Payroll Team Leader to oversee the Payrun and Processing team, ensuring accurate and timely payroll. You will guide a team of payroll officers, manage workloads, and drive process improvements during a period of payroll system change, including UAT and rollout activities.

The role requires strong leadership, payroll processing expertise, and a solid understanding of regulatory requirements, with a focus on efficiency, accuracy, and exceptional stakeholder

Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership of a payroll team.
• Proven experience in payroll processing and payrun delivery.
• Ability to manage competing priorities during high-volume payroll periods.
• Strong technical payroll knowledge with issue resolution capabilities.
• Sound understanding of payroll regulation and governance.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management across the organisation.
• Ability to lead teams through organisational change and transformation.
• Experience or understanding of system testing, UAT, and payroll system changes.
• Continuous improvement mindset to strengthen payroll processes and controls.

Responsabilités

• Lead the Payrun/Processing team to ensure payroll is accurate and on time.
• Oversee day-to-day payroll activities and ensure deadlines are met.
• Provide technical guidance on complex pay processing matters to the team.
• Allocate workloads and develop staff for performance and succession.
• Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and payroll system rollout.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls and service delivery.
