Job summary

UnitingCare Queensland is seeking an experienced payroll professional to lead our Payroll Team across hospitals, family and disability services, and corporate portfolios. As Payroll Team Leader, you will oversee end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance and on-time delivery while guiding a team of payroll specialists.

This full-time hybrid role requires 3-5 years in payroll, leadership experience, and strong knowledge of Awards and Enterprise Agreements.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years' experience in payroll, with end-to-end processing in a complex environment.
• Experience leading or mentoring team members, or readiness to step into a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of Awards, Enterprise Agreements and payroll-related legislation.
• Experience in high-volume payroll environments with multiple pay cycles.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Experience with Chris21, Aurion, UKG Pro/Kronos or similar payroll and time & attendance systems is highly desirable.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships across levels of the organisation.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight of end-to-end payroll processing, including coordination and facilitation of payroll runs.
• Ensure payroll activities are completed accurately, on time and in accordance with policies and legislative requirements.
• Interpret Awards and Enterprise Agreements and provide guidance to the payroll team.
• Manage and resolve escalated payroll enquiries and issues.
• Support internal and external audit activities and ensure payroll compliance obligations are met.
• Lead, coach and develop payroll team members through feedback and development planning.
• Monitor workloads and prioritise to ensure service levels are achieved.
• Contribute to payroll projects, process improvements and system enhancements.
• Build strong relationships with leaders, employees and stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality.
